I'd agree with you, in fact any seller worth their salt should know this. Of course, the price is the biggest giveaway

I'm seriously considering it later today after lunch. I just was waiting to see if a couple of the experts here agreed with me. I've done things like this before but only if I'm 100% sure!
I sent the seller a short unoffensive message but I doubt if anything will come of it. I'll let you know if I hear back!

Thank you for the information, I looked at many examples on Ebay.
There are a few listings that are very questionable actually, some with all the borders cut off and not showing the back. At least one with fake blued paper.
I think your right about mine but I'm not completely sure.
For now I'll remove the listing. At some point I'll have it checked out more closely.
Regards,

Right thing to do Joe!
I have done it myself with Maystamps, when they posted a fake austrian stamp worth $$$$.
They were very very greatful!

I used to notify sellers, until one day I notified a seller (major seller of the material I collect), the seller blocked me from bidding. Soon afterward he made the correction that I pointed out. I'ts the right thing to do, but it can back fire on you. I don't do it any more!

I don't do this sort of thing often, I've had bad experiences as well! Occasionally the urge to do something hits me if it's in an area I'm sure of! Quite often I'm ignored, I've never had an experience like 1899 has had.
EDIT: If you're going to do this sort of thing you should be careful how you express yourself. I always assume the person has made an honest mistake and what you're trying to do is help him/her correct it. If you come across too strong all you're going to do is make the seller angry and defensive. So the key is you have to BE NICE, even if you think the person might be a crooked SOB!!!

I don't usually do this sort of thing but I noticed this on E-Bay and it irked me a bit. A real NS #2 would be on blued paper and the series of fakes was done on white paper. IMHO this is a fake and I thought it would be useful to point out! I decided to leave the seller's information, was I wrong in doing this?
