



Bob, Wow... that's a pretty penny for a postcard. I'm guessing the Schermack on cover, combined with the more scarce town and state are probably driving the value. If my Encyclopedia Britannica is correct, NM didn't become a US state until 1912 so this would be a territorial cover as well.
The seller refers to a “paste-up” at the left. I can’t see what he apparently sees.
I’ve occasionally spent more than his asking price for postcards, but not this time. Now if the postcard pictured say, a mining scene or street scene or local geography, I might consider it.

I was surprised, more than likely because of ignorance, to see this postcard being offered on eBay:

In 1909, Silver City was a booming but still very small mining community, not many years after the Indian Wars and three years before New Mexico became a state. I'm surprised that there was a Schermack dispenser there. And perhaps there wasn't. Perhaps the sender was a visitor who had brought stamps with him. Here's a link to the eBay listing.
