Can someone please tell me the current catalog values for Finland Scott# 153/54 for MH and used? -- I just paid $20 for the used set. I did have it in MH, but wanted them used. The CV was given at $42.00 on the dealer's sales sheet. I now checked my older not up-to-date 2007 Scott and the values for MH and used are given at $13.00 and $25.00 (in italics). Did the price really go up that much in just the last 3-4 years?

Arno, my 2009 shows the prices as $15.50 and $38., the latter in italics. Not far from the dealer's price, although my catalogue is only 2 years newer than yours and 3 years out of date.

'Used' are also in italics in the 2012 Scott catalogue, both for #153 & #154.

re: Finland Scott 153/54

In Michel 2009-2010 they are listed as #138 and 139, with values of 15 euros each, mint as well as used. One interesting fact that Scott forgets to mention is that these stamps exist with two different watermarks. Actually it is the same watermark (a postalhorn), but some sheets were placed differently in the printing press, resulting in mirrored watermarks (postal horn pointing to the right instead of to the left). These mirrored watermarks are much rarer, with a catalogue value of 500 / 900 euros for the 1 M. (mint / used) and double for the 1 1/2 M.

Interestingly, 15 euros and 21 US dollars is about the same at the moment. I do not think the stamps have become more popular, it is just a matter of adjusting the prices to the lower dollar to euro exchangerate.

Thank you for all your quick responses. I was just wondering as catalog values tend to be quite stable (apart from China, Russia or other boom countries). Also, thank you Jan-Simon for the watermark information. I will check it.
