I just read in Linn's March 2012 publication that the retail price for each volume of the 2013 Scott Catalogues will be US$99.99.

They are raising the minimum catalogue value of all stamps to 25c from the current 20c.

re: 2013 Scott Standard Postage Stamp Catalogues

Just a note that Scott's raising the minimum value of stamps to 25 cents only completes what they started a few years ago. Many stamps have already been raised to the 25 cent minimum value, though it wasn't official until the 2013 catalogs.

I feel like a marionette and a "higher power" is jerking my strings.

Thank you for that depressing information, Patches.

re: 2013 Scott Standard Postage Stamp Catalogues

Scott could save themselves a lot of angst by employing a simple letter like the "M" for minimal value that some other catalogs utilize since the numerical listing is meaningless beyond that anyway. Since they would hate to be thought of as copying someone's good idea they could use a symbol like the asterisk, or "NiV" for "No individual Value".

Something like that would go a long way toward preventing newbies (and some supposedly experienced collectors also.) from multiplying that minimal $0.25 listing times several thousand stamps and thinking that reflected some real value.
