I have 2 Canadian stamps Scott 462 and 287 (or is it 310?) -
Image Not Found

462 shows a paper crease across it. Is this a rareity or of any value?

287 is distinctly orange, certainly not dark carmine per Scotts. Scotts 310 is orange vermillion but a coil which this stamp is not, so which is it?

Any guidance much appreciated

John

Hi,

The 462 looks like it may be a pre-print crease (pre print creases do have a value but the condition of the stamp the value would be minimal). The 4c GVI orange is 306 (310 is a coil).

As a buyer, I wouldn't have much interest in the 10 cent creased stamp; however, don't throw it away. You should check your Centennials for some other interesting varieties. The 8 cent and 15 cent both have interesting plate flaws (noticeable in the numeral values where doubling of the images occurs or in the 2 cent green where you can find interesting variations in the eyes on the totem). This set of stamps is one of the most interesting Canadian issues in the last few decades with dozens of minor plate variations and flaws. They have been studied extensively and can form the basis of an interesting specialized collection.
