SUPRISE, It's another of those almost famous "World Mystery Stamp" quiz's. Seems like I've been remiss in doing these MSQ's plus it's been too quiet around here for a while and we need a little excitement to arouse everyone.
To all of you newcomers, and there are certainly plenty of them, welcome and good luck. The rules are very simple: The goal is to identify the country of issue, along with the Scott number. If you don't have a Scott number, just tell us what the date of issue was and the denomination of the stamp. Everyone is allowed to guess, as many times as you care to. The prize will be the stamp itself.

First clue: This is not a U. S. stamp. Good luck with that helpful hint. Now check the visual clue!

That would be a big fat NO. This is just something I had on my desk, preparing for the auction. But that speaks well for two more clues.

This country issues some of the cheapest looking stamps ever issued. Of course that is just MHO.

re: Stamp ID quiz

Cheapest looking stamps ever? Well, there is no disputing about taste but my first idea would have been 1930s tot 1970s USA definitives, but I know from your first messages that this is no US stamp. I would guess something like India, or Romania instead. Mexico has created very cheap looking issues as well, some Dutch stamps might qualify for this dubious honour and... well... I suppose we need an extra clue.

I'm glad to see that you jumped in there, Jan-Simon and am surprised you didn't guess which country issued this "plug ugly" stamp. I'm also surprised that Jill from down under didn't figure it out with that first clue. LOL

Don't be afraid to make guesses, or even ask questions, everyone. I see we have a lot of lookers, but no one guessing. Don't be bashful.

Maybe what I should have said was the quality of the stamps is that they are some of the cheapest looking and of the poorest quality issued.

The issuing country has a highly explosive attitude towards the West!

That points my attention towards the Middle East, or at least some Islamic country. I already had a quick glance through the Afghanistan listings. Indeed very ugly and cheap looking for the most part, but I could not find anything that looked like the snippets you showed.
