This one has me baffled. Cuba issued a similar stamp, but I’m not sure where this one is from, or whether it’s a stamp. Maybe a charity label to raise money for the Vietnamese communists? Czech? Any help will be appreciated!

A Service Dog gives a person with a disability independence. Never approach, distract or pet a working dog, especially when (s)he is in harness. Never be afraid to ask questions to the handler (parent).

re: Stamp or label? Czech or …?

The currency matches Czechoslovakia.

During the Vietnam War, many Communist countries issued stamps that boasted solidarity to for Communist Vietnam, which is what this stamp does. Usually listed as semi-postals, but I'm not finding anything in Scott. They were generally issued between 1966-68, the ones that I have from other countries.

Thanks, Kelly. I think you’re right. Perhaps Michel lists it.

re: Stamp or label? Czech or …?

I have a pretty extensive Czech collection, and, while I haven't been active in it of late, I just don't remember that as a stamp at all.

the currency is Czech: Czech Krona. But the name of the country is missing. and, interestingly, Prague is spelled the way WE spell it, but not the way the Czechs spell it, which is Praha, not Prague. Perhaps in its adjectival form it changes.

I'm pretty sure that this is a charity label of some sort, but its purpose eludes my language deficiencies.

re: Stamp or label? Czech or …?

Ok, so it's definitely a Czech label of some sort. The writing is fully in Czech.

Essentially the wording around the outside of the stamp/label reads -
International Trade Union Solidarity with the Workers and the People of South Vietnam

The words in the middle read -
The Heroic South Vietnamese People will Triumph

Like the propaganda semi-postals of other Communist countries at the time that were trying to entice South Vietnamese People to be loyal to the Communist ideals of North Vietnam.

So now we know what the stamp says, now we still have to figure out exactly what it is.

I believe it is a fund-raising cinderella based on the PRC stamp promoting victory in South Vietnam. The original stamp was issued on 20Jul1964:

No mention in Michel about this, but I will agree with Kim that it is probably a charity label.

Ah, the penny drops! As a result of KHJ’s post, I realized that if I looked in the right stock book, I’d find that Chinese stamp. And I did! Thanks to Poodle Mum as well for the translation. Mystery solved, more or less. I wonder if any other Communist Bloc countries/party organizations issued similar stamps or labels.

Bob -

I know for certain that DDR issued a number of Solidarity issues - For example: Scott #s B134, B144, B147, B151 and B173.

USSR - Scott #s 3094, 3256A, 3455

People's Republic of China - Scott #s 746-47, 766

Cuba - Scott #s 1163-66

North Korea - Scott #s 558

These are just a few. If you look through the Communist countries, I'm sure you'll find a lot more though. This would actually make an interesting topical
