Well, after that traumatic experience, the site was easy enough to get rid of, just go to your control panel and select "add or remove" and select Webcake and delete it. Even though it was easy to get rid of, we should not have to delete these invasive programs that we don't even want to see on our favorite website.
How many others experienced the Webcake design website that I did, right here on SOR?
Mike
Didn't see anything, Mike. If it was pop-ups, I wouldn't see them as I use Firefox with Ad Block Plus.
I'm on a "MacBook Pro" with "Chrome" and it seems to operate in a doppelgânger ethernet
- no advertisements, no pop-ups, not much of anything not wanted.
John Derry
Firefox for a browser and Telus security package with pop-up blocker turned on.
No problems here
I've not seen it either.
I have Clint Eastwood operating my Firefox nothing gets through!!!!!!
I don't see anything.
CapeStampMan, are you using iexplore as your browser?
Usually I use Chrome, but today downloaded Firefox because I was having issues watching/listening to Andre Rieu's music on Youtube. So actually I'm not sure which browser I was using at the time, but I'm glad no one else shared that experience with Webcake.
Mike
If using Firefox make sure you get the ad ons you want - ADblocker is a must.
I have no clue what you are talking about? However, I'm with Blue : will take Clint anyday!BTW: Blue: love the pic.
I use iexplorer no ads or pop ups here.
Mike already mentioned in his 2nd post how to use Windows to remove the WebCake program. However, you may also have to deal with things WebCake may have done to your browser.
The following link provides instruction on both removing the program and also removing any WebCake add-ons and what-not...
removing WebCake
Thanks to all that answered my question. It's seems that once again I alone have been visited by mysterious websites. May hap it was just one toooo many rum and cokes. Naw, couldn't have been, sorry I even mentioned that. If there is a next time I will attempt to save the screen and share it with everyone.
KHJ, I did follow your link and did not find other signs of the mysterious Webcake.
Mike
Don't feel bad, Mike. I virus-check every email attachment before opening it (even those from persons I know) and avoid suspect sites like the plague, yet I still have had my share of "bugs" coming my way. Just part of the World Wide Web experience!
NOTHING HERE !
WOW,
Have we have been invaded by Webcake ads. They need to pay for just so much intrusion into this wonderful site, with all of their irritating pop-ups and then shot or at least covered with honey and laid out on a Fire ant hill.
