I was just at the end of typing a long(ish) message just now and had finished signing my name after which I added a smiley.
When I clicked on the Smiley I found myself on the Log-in page ?????!!!

Can one be logged out even when using the site ?
Surely not ?

re: Logged out whilst typing message !

Happens to most of us, at least once. Next time before you "send" the message, copy it and then send the message. If you were "timed out" at least you have a copy of it and can log back in and "paste" it back into the message system, to safely send it on it's way.

I've never tried this on other browsers, but on Firefox you can hit the back button and get back to the text box with your post still in it.

A Service Dog gives a person with a disability independence. Never approach, distract or pet a working dog, especially when (s)he is in harness. Never be afraid to ask questions to the handler (parent).

If you click "preview" regularly throughout your message, the system still knows you are active and you won't get logged out. Like Mike said, it's happened to all of us at least once so it is also good to copy the text before sending to make sure you have it.

re: Logged out whilst typing message !

As Kim said, if it happens to you, try clicking on the back button (might take more than one click) to go back to your post. Also, as stated by another above, if you've been working on a post for a while and aren't sure if you might lose it, block and copy it before you send it. If you lose the online version, you can always repost it by copying it to a new reply. Using both methods together, you won't lose what you were working on.

re: Logged out whilst typing message !

It's happened to me before. Not necessarily a long post. Might have been interrupted by something else mid-post. I have always been able to recover with the back button and do a copy and paste.

You might type on "word" or "note pad" first AND THEN copy and paste to your post.
