When I saw this in the dollar box I knew it was worth more than a dollar. I have been hunting for postally used examples from this series for a few years now.

Image Not Found

My US Specialized catalog is quite old and was wondering if someone has a recent value for this (though it is a bit creased in the UR corner). Unfortunately these were printed on very light cardstock.

It was uprated to 15¢ for the international postcard rate. Cancel is Portales, NM. It was sent to Germany. The message on the card says, "This is one of the airmail cards (domestic) in the new series."

re: UXC12 - Postally Used Find - Rescued from the dollar box

Antonio, Scott won't be of any help here. Used values are solely for the intended purpose of the thing, and this was not used as intended, but, instead, for a much more interesting purpose. Although clearly philatelic by its message, the fact that you have been searching for years tells you about its rarity, but not its value. My most recent specialized is now more than a decade out of date.

My long=winded way of saying: GREAT FIND. 15c airmail PC rate to Germany on a card seldom seen used.

When it rains it pours. Happy Another one rescued from the dollar box.

Actually the postcard was put out in 1972, but I am not complaining.

My USPS 2012 "Guide to stamps" lists UXC12 at $75.00 used, 75¢ unused. I'm sure these prices came from Scott's catalog's.

Yes, Mike, but this would be for usage to a foreign destination in the proper rate period. I am currently traveling (Philly for a conference), and cannot give the exact quote from Scott, but it should say something to that extent. The domestic usage (to an APO address) or an uprated usage, do not fit this description. I'd say both cards shown are probably properly valued at $1.00. But that would be me, who is notoriously conservative in valuations.

Arno, I think you are thinking of UXC13, which was the International Air Postcard rate of 15 cents. The 9 cent airmail postcard was intended for domestic use.

Yes, back home again, I can only confirm that it was bad advice to cite from memory, Antonio. You are absolutely correct. Sorry for the confusion.
