Lovely.
Mandt Rural Station was an offshoot from the Montevideo post office (being only 10 miles from Montevideo), so that makes sense.
There is another cancel underneath the Leed's cancel. It looks like it starts with the leters "ST" but I can't make much more of it than that.
Antonio (Smauggie),
I think there might be 3 cancel stamps here.
Regards ... Tim.
Blimey, you are correct. And a closer look identifies the one I was looking at as ending in "EO" for Montevideo rather than beginning with "ST". I looke at it gain, it is not a mirror image. That's one down, anyway.
Tim,
It's not Leeds, MN. The postmark underneath Leeds is Minnesota. The Leed's postmark has a "k" in the state abbreviation. It could be Kansas? Try it at 1200 or at retroreveal. Sorry to be the Party Pooper.
Pat
Got it! It is North Dakota. If you magnify it you can pick up part of the "D" & "K"
Blimey???? I need a geography lesson. I had no idea you came from down under Antonio.
Pat . . I am an anglophile. Sometimes these things can't be helped.
Anglophile? I think the doctor can get you a salve or an ointment for that.
So where do you think this is really sent from?
My guess is it started in Leeds and went to Montevideo and then to the Mandt Brach Post office.
Man am I ever sorry I had to miss that show. It was nip & tuck up until Sat morning & it just wasn't going to happen! This is as close as I've ever come to making--usually someone has hijacked my schedule months in advance. The sucking organ recital that has meant the doctors are getting all the gold has been in full swing this winter. Maybe next year.

Here is another one from the Boxborough Show:
This is an interesting postcard from Leeds MN to Montevideo MN, sent on Sept 5th 1907. It has a receiving stamp from Mandt Rural Sta in MN on Sept 7th 1907. The thing that makes it rather interesting is that the Leeds PO only operated between 1879 and 1880. Assuming this is real, just being from Leeds it has a rarity code of 8 according to Richard Helbock's book "United States Post Offices", which gives it a value of between $200 and $500.
