Can anybody tell me if the crown on this perfin makes it an official? If so, could "SB" be School Board? I have found similar things on eBay but not with the same letters.

According to the Specialised Cat.the Crown was used on a number of stamps,but the only one close to yours I can find is SO Stationary Office.

It is Stringer Brothers Iron & Steel Company, West Bromwich, Birmingham. Their registered trade mark was a drawing of an Imperial Crown.
